Juvenile Unit

As a part of the Investigations Division, the Juvenile Unit’s primary responsibilities are to handle all cases involving juveniles as offenders. In addition, juvenile officers investigate missing child/runaway cases, child abuse cases, and any serious crime involving juveniles as victims. The Oak Lawn Police Department is committed to the protection of the youth of this community and utilizes several outside organizations to assist in this endeavor including the following resources; Southwest YMCA, The Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Cook County, Oak Lawn Family Services, Worth Township Youth Services Bureau, and several counseling/outreach programs.

The detectives in this unit work closely with investigators from the Department of Children and Family Services assuring that the needs of children in crisis are met.
